REDHILLS
RALLYESPORT TEAM
Warwick
Martin - CoDriver
For 2005 Warwick Martin replaces Sandy in the co-drivers seat. Warwick
has been in and around rallying for most of his life, either helping out
the works teams whilst here, or following events. For 2003 he joined Nick
Marshall to do Rally NZ which ended early with a mechanical DNF. During
2004 Warwick competed at the Waikato Tarmac Rally with us, and drove the
2004 Rally of the North in a leased Rally Drive NZ Mirage.
Simon
Bell - Driver
I have been involved in motorsport since I was a wee toddler in diapers.
My father used to rally, and it was the watching the Group B Audi's, Lancia's,
and Peugeots of Marku Alen, Timo Salonen, and Hannu Mikkola that fired
my mind that one day I would drive a rallycar. There was something about
the Rotoehu forest, and the excitement of throwing a car sideways that
caught my imagination.
Since
then I have watched nearly every Rally NZ, Top Half series rally, bought
the Speedsport religiously, and even for three years volunteered to help
out with the organisation of the Smokefree Rally NZ.
Early
in 1999, I had the chance to finally buy my own car, and have since then
never looked back, although I am very lucky to have very understanding
and helpful parents (especially when the car was housed at their place
for 6mths).
In
my spare time I work in the marketing industry at Apollo Marketing, as
a Project Manager
Terry
Bell - Sponsor and Manager
Terry is the owner of Redhills Benz, and also happens to be my father.
He is an ex-rallyman, with a first in Group 'A' to his name in the 1978
Motogard International Rally of New Zealand, driving a rapid Ford Escort
1300 Sport.
Terry
has the uncanny ability to look a problem in the eye, and solve it using
very creative means, a good person to have around when you are re-building
a rallycar. Many a problem I have seen as too hard to fix, he has astounded
me with his 'can-do' approach.
When
not helping me out, he is either on his boat, or playing badminton, see
what happens when you retire from rallying.
