2005 Greg Todd Memorial

A mixed surface event for 2005 with tarmac stages run in the morning and gravel in the forests in the afternoon.

Saturday dawned wet, with the odd heavy shower as we headed to the service park in Te Kauwhata.

Stage 1 was a quick blast where we weren't off the gas for much of the stage, a real drag to the finish where we set the 19th quickest time.

Stage 2 was cancelled due to the Farmers accident at a junction about 1/2 way through. This was a real wake up call that we are going fast and if things go wrong, as they ometimes do, then you can get hurt.

Stages 3 - 5 were again very fast, with us ending up 13th overall at the end of the tarmac stages, a very satisfying result.

Stages 6 - 11 were in the Maramarua forest with some new parts of the forest opening up some great bits of road. As it had been raining the inevitable ruts started to form, and on some corners they were very deep, and you just had to hang on.

We had a good runs thrugh the stages, although I did fall asleep a bit on the first run through, the second time I pushed and got the stages resutls we should have been doing.

The last stage was on the Super Stage at Manukau. We set a 1min 44sec time as we slipped, slid and splashed our way round.

A great result for our team, as we have kept improving our results since the debut of the car at last years NZRC Hamilton Tarmac Rally.

Our next event is the Rally of the North on the 15h October. So a bit of timne off until the final round in Paihia where we will be fighting to win Class E for 2005.
